In Loving Memory of Diablo (Pablo)
Diablo was more than a dog🫶he was family, my heart, and my daughter’s best friend and she lovingly named him Pablo. Gentle, funny, and always a little anxious, he carried the purest energy. Food made him happiest, and his eyes sparkled with love.

He was an amazing dog, so independent that I never had to worry about him. He even taught himself to be clean without guidance. He never asked much of us he didn’t need attention, just the quiet joy of being near me. In his last month, it was as if he knew his time was near. He wanted nothing more than to sleep by my side, giving me his presence as his final gift of love.

Diablo was also a fighter, stronger than anyone could have imagined. He made history as the first Chihuahua in Canada to undergo a major surgery after losing blood circulation. Faced with two choices; euthanasia or surgery…I never hesitated. I chose life for him, no matter the cost. That surgery gave us five more beautiful years together.

A month ago, when his heart grew weaker, the vet gently suggested letting him go. But I knew my Diablo hadn’t given up. So I chose once again to fight alongside him. We gave him his medications, day and night, adjusting our life and even my sleep just to keep him safe. He was my world, and I was his.

In his final moments, when his heart began to fade, the vet rushed him back into my arms and his heart beat again. That was his last gift: showing me that I was the love of his life, just as he was mine.

If not for his heart, I know he would have lived happily until 25. But even in the time we had, he filled our lives with more love than many lifetimes hold.

My sweet Diablo, your spirit lives forever with us. I love you endlessly. Run free now, eat all the food you want, and play with your brothers until we meet again. 💙🐾🐕
